New meat for the grinder

I've managed to talk myself into buying a squad to test out how they are going to look. I got a cadian boxset and timed how long it took me to remove the skirt bit on the legs. About an hour for the 10 guys which is acceptable to me as I'm petty fastidious about remove mould lines anyway so its not a big increase in the time it takes me to build.

You can see them above, I've got about 4 1/2 assembled (they're going to be a vet squad as I can't face putting together enough guys to make platoons. They're looking OK even if I am saying it myself, I'll try and finish them off tomorrow if I get some time at games night and then it'll be a test of how quick they paint up. If I can get quick, I'll be ordering an army box set or two to build up the force pretty soon.

Edit: Close-ups of a few of the troops as requested by Drax

  1. Ooh! Ooh!

    Nice!

Any chance of some expanded pics or some close-ups, please?

I'll link in to this blog, by the way...I'm a part-time big fan of the film!

  3. I've posted some close-up shots, but have just realised that when you click on the images they don't show you the full size version. Don't know what is going on there as it does that on my other blog and I can't remember changing a setting to allow it.

    Any ideas anyone?

  4. Looking great!

The trick is to only move the pictures around in the html version when you write the post. If you do it in the normal default, plain type screen then the links don't work.

I know NOTHING about html but it's really easy. 1) Write the post; 2) upload the pics; 3) click the 'html' tab; 4) the pics'll be at the top of the post in paragraph chunks - simply select, drag and drop the whole chunk to where it should go. 5) Switch back to the normal (non-html; can't remember what it's called) screen and close up the gaps with backspace/delete.

If you manouevre the pics on the normal screen it'll go wrong.

Hope that helps, and thanks again,

    - Drax.

  5. Awesome, thanks so much.

Must be a new feature because I've been moving them around in the regular window for a while on my other blog with no issues. I'll keep it in mind though.

  6. I love starship troopers, so I'll be following this blog closely. Are you going to get any of the starship troopers figures? bugs?

  7. I don't know if I'm going to buy any of the specific figures, but I certainly intend to model up a veteran squad full of characters from the film - spiky hair guy, rico, diz, raszceck, the psychic guy, carmen

I've also toyed with the idea of building a counterpoint nid force styled as bugs, but that'll be once I've got a decent core to this force.

  8. Hey, G, they're looking good.

Concerning the size of the pics, make sure you're selecting the large size version too, and only load one at a time. I find adding multiple pictures at a time defaults them to small no matter what.

I hope to see a larger pic too, as I'm wondering how the skirtless looks using the Cadian legs. I've always used Catachan legs when I wanted that look.
